Why need this technology
The epidemic has changed consumers’ dining patterns, and many restaurants have joined different delivery platforms to adjust their business strategies under the epidemic. Although the food delivery platform can serve as an additional digital sales channel to expand the customer base for restaurants, it still fails to meet the customers’ demand for restaurant services.
The traditional restaurant business model has been unable to keep up with the needs of customers for a convenient and fast digital dining experience. Therefore, catering operators should actively improve operational efficiency through digital transformation, so as to improve the service level of restaurants, retain customers, and increase restaurant revenue. Digitizing the operating system can also manage employees more effectively, improve customer relationships, and reduce the workload of employees.
Pain Points We Solved
Many restaurant operators are also planning to implement digital transformation to improve their restaurant operations. However, if traditional restaurants are to keep up with the pace of digitalization, they will inevitably encounter various obstacles, such as the inability of employees to implement and operate electronic restaurant management systems due to lack of technical knowledge.
This course will introduce customer-facing service systems and platforms such as “Customer Loyalty Program” and explain the professional application and practical methods of internal management systems specially designed for the catering industry such as “Electronic Point of Sale (POS)”. As long as restaurant operators can master digital expertise and customize a suitable digital transformation plan for their own brands, they will be able to maintain a competitive advantage for their restaurants and successfully achieve digital transformation.

Programme Highlights
Through digitalization, catering operators can use various data to predict diners’ preferences and consumption habits, so as to formulate a set of catering promotion plans that meet customers’ tastes. At the same time, with the help of data analysis technology, operators can directly monitor restaurant operation data, so as to make timely and flexible countermeasures.
This course includes two units: “Customer-Facing Systems and Platforms” and “Internal Systems and Platforms in the Catering Industry”. The module “Customer-Facing Systems and Platforms” will introduce the basics of digital transformation, referring to how industry pioneers manage customer relationships. The “Internal Systems and Platforms in the Catering Industry” unit will teach big data analysis and the practical operation of internal systems in the catering industry, and learn to produce reports to predict customer preferences.

Family-style restaurants navigate digital transformation
“We have always used the old method to place orders for diners. The old chefs are not very good at hearing, and sometimes make mistakes. In addition, my father has always been responsible for food inventory and cashiers alone. Seeing his old man spend a lot of money time to deal with the accounts, I was born with the idea of digitization. In addition to introducing electronic systems and explaining digital knowledge, this course will also provide examples of peers for me to refer to, from which I also learned from instructors who have experience in catering.
Through this course, I adopted a digital transformation plan that suits me, such as the introduction of an intelligent management system for the restaurant, which can quickly carry out inventory and purchase, and arrange replenishment orders for me when the stock is low. At the same time, I have also upgraded the ordering system. Diners can order food on their smartphones by scanning the QR code, and the order will be sent directly to the kitchen display. The chef can then order the food according to the diners’ requirements, greatly reducing the chance of mistakes. And after the digital transformation, the turnover of our restaurant has increased to 20%! “

Case Study
The digitalization transformation has brought Hong Kong-style cafe out of the epidemic predicament
Affected by the epidemic, Hong Kong-style cafe need digital transformation to cope with the changes in public dining habits, and Mr. Chen’s old cafe is no exception. However, Mr. Chen found that even if he mainly switched to take-out business, it would not improve the operational efficiency of the business. In addition, the cafe is mainly engaged in neighborhood business, but neighborhoods prefer to cook at home to avoid contact with the outside world. It can be said that the cafe is facing the crisis of bankruptcy. Later, Mr. Chen decided to enroll in this course, hoping to bring a turnaround for the cafe.
Through the course, Mr. Chen applied the customer loyalty program introduced in the class to attract neighbors to become cafe members and use the discounts to retain diners. At the same time, a digital system was introduced for the cafe, which uses big data analysis to evaluate customers’ dining preferences, thereby launching targeted new dishes, thus improving the operating conditions, and the turnover has returned to the level before the epidemic.
